Unexpected Colors

I love autumn sunsets in our area. The sky can be dreamy, stormy or vibrant depending on the weather this time of year. I have a lovely photo of a recent sunset with a soft dreamy sky. I would like to use some of the colors for an art journal page that I am planning and tried my hand at sorting out the colors. Some days there are unexpected results with the colors when I use the "dropper" in my photo editing software. Here is the photo and some colors I expected to get.

Original with Expected Colors
Soft, pastel colors, almost like cotton candy to go in a powdery blue sky. Pretty colors to work with in any medium. But these were not the colors I actually got.

Here are the actual colors taken from the photo using the "dropper".

The colors are still soft but more muted or muddy. The blues are less blue and more gray. Still lovely colors to work with but not what I thought I would get. I like both color combinations and will probably use both in one form or another.

Inspiration can come from actual or from what we think we see. Either way I'm inspired.
